There is no need to go out for an amazing cheeseburger. All you need is a good, inexpensive cast iron skillet, and a few other basic ingredients. In this short video, I demonstrate how to make on of the most amazing cheeseburgers you've ever had. I would put this burger up against any other.
Ingredients:
• A small amount of peanut oil or oil of your choice
• 80/20 ground beef formed into 1/2" thick patties
• American cheese or cheese of your choice
• Martin's Potato Rolls
• Toppings of your choice.
This video is meant to demonstrate the method. Season you burger however you like, use whatever cheese you like, and cook to whatever doneness you like. It's your burger – do it your way!!
Before cooking, the skillet was preheated to 425º F. This temperature works well with thick burgers. For thinner burgers, go with a higher temperature so that the crust forms quickly without overcooking. I use an infrared thermometer to measure skillet temperatures. I find it to be a very valuable tool when exact temperatures matter.
Your burger looks tasty and juicy! I love that you don't shy away from butter! How many pounds per patty are you using? That looks bigger than a regular patty!
This may have been around 1/3 pound.
Looks like a bubble formed, to avoid that try pressing a thumb print in the center before cooking
Thanks. I know the technique you are referring to, but this burger was perfectly flat on the bottom.
