As I wrote yesterday, Lily was spayed today.
Sleepy Lily after we got home from the Vet
I didn’t get much sleep during the night, also because of a hungry Lily, who wasn’t allowed to eat 12 hours before the surgery. Poor girl kept waking me up. Normally they have a bowl of kibbles to eat whenever they want, but not that night.
Eventually we made it through the morning with lots of playing and cuddling. The weather gave us a break too and it stopped raining for long enough to bring Lily to the Vet at midday and for me to get back home dry.
Lily got taken in right away after we arrived at the Vet and was prepared for surgery after I left.
This is what the sky looked like as I was on my way home.
I was anxiously trying to distract myself back at home. I’m always worried when one of my cats is in surgery, even during routine surgeries like spaying. But at 2pm I got the phone call that everything went well, that Lily is awake and fine. A little bit after 3pm, I arrived at the Vet to pick my little girl up. The thunderstorm was also gone and the sun was back out.
Back home, I let her out of her carrier and the other 4 cats came to greet her. Lily still had those huge pupils and was a little bit wobbly. She wanted to go up on the bedroom window, but stopped to lie down on the kitty house.
Lily on the kitty house. Her pupils are huge from the anesthesia.
The others followed her, because she smelled of Vet and she looked different with her recovery suit. Especially her brothers were completely stunned.
Lily is doing fine in her recovery suit. It’s to protect her surgery site from herself and her brothers, so none of them starts pulling at her stitches when giving each other a wash. It’s more comfortable than a cone.
Lily by the living room window and Leo on the kitty tree
After slowly walking around the home to make sure everything is still the same, she sat at the living room window, one of her favourite spots.
But only minutes after sitting down, she curled up and fell asleep straight away. Leo, little Sonic, Lisa and Hero also curled up nearby and they all slept for a couple of hours.
Hopefully Lily is going to take it easy tonight and isn’t going to play too wild, running through the home at break neck speeds. All 5 at once. It’s completely mad and awesome. Thankfully nobody lives underneath us…
I’m very tired myself, after hardly getting any sleep, so I apologize if my writing isn’t any good today.
I’m so glad Lily is home and doing well. Next Wednesday, I bring Lily to a post surgery check up and I’ll also bring little Sonic with us, because he will be spayed on that day.
Take care!
