Bobcat (Lynx Rufus). We were excited to see this bobcat on our normal evening walk route. He was far enough away that he wasn't spooked and let us get a good look at him. Until my wife climbed over the fence... then he slunk away.

I love seeing Bobcats here but as you mentioned they are elusive. I see them more in the Winter.

I think bobcat are not that uncommon but it is rare to see them because they are elusive, very cautious in avoiding humans, and not active during the day.

Yes it was very unusual to see this bobcat out in the open during the late afternoon. I wondered if he was confused by all the smoke.

He was gorgeous. Looked kind of drab brown and gray at first. Then he got up and their were oranges, blacks and whites. So pretty
