Caturday of the Fall

The Summer is officially over and it's time to start growing our winter coats! Our cat's eagerly look out of the window whenever we open it to let the fresh air fill the house. Fall is the perfect weather to open the windows and enjoy the last few days before it's too late.

We often let them out into the yard. Crypticat doesn't wander very far, she will go down to the grass to have a taste and she will go under the deck. She rarely leaves the property but always enjoys the great outdoors.

The Coon is a little different. She is trying to catch some birds right now, crouching so they don't see her. The stupid thing is that the birds are in the branches directly above her and she stands out like a sore thumb in the green grass. Who ever said cats were great hunters? They are just persistent.

Here is the coon looking silly. She is either kneading the bed, or is very close to the camera. She is a very needy cat and spends a couple of hours each day disturbing us and begging for attention. To be frank, it is flattering.

Sometimes she can be serious too. Here the Coon looks like a regal cat of great pedigree. Something one would show off at a cat show. She is a purebred Maine Coon so we could enter her into contests but it's something to do at a later stage in life. Our cats are too spoiled and untrained to win any sort of prize.

Crypticat is as cute as a button. She likes hiding under the sheets so whenever the bed isn't perfectly smooth one has to look to make sure they are not crushing the cat. It is peculiar how a Siberian Cat would want to hide under blankets like this, her fur is very thick. For the longest time we thought she was fat, until we weighed her and she is average (12.5 lbs / 5.5kg) for a female Siberian cat, they're a stocky breed.

The Coon is long and lanky, she's about 10 lbs or 4.5 Kg which puts her on the small side for a female Mainecoon. She isn't small, she's just skinny because she is so active she can't seem to put on weight. The Coon will run around the house back and forth doing suicides for exercise and she is always jumping around and rarely takes a break to nap.

Crypticat always naps. Although right now she is sitting by the door and watching me blog about her. She loves to chill and is the sweetest cat, except when she scratches the rug.

The Coon is anything but sweet, as you can see she has climbed to the top of our closet. It's really annoying when we go in her to get clothing, she will sneak in and try to hide. Not everyone looks up and 30 minutes later we hear her scratching and meowing at the door. We have had to give up on wearing black clothing, it just doesn't work.

The Coon also likes joining us for dinner on the table. She will jump on the counters continuously when we are cooking and there is really nothing we can do about it. I have tried thousands of times to take her off the counter, we spray her with water, we put things on there that cats don't like such as citrus and she still comes back. I've never seen such a persistent cat.

Just as the blog starts with a photo of the cats looking out the window, so it ends. It's extra cute when two big cats share one small window sill. Hope you enjoyed the cat photos and have a happy Caturday!
