Many are the legends associated with this mysterious Order of warrior monks and in Spain, as a rule, there is no place that they will not live without their corresponding legend.
Segovia is a community that has multiple legends, possibly the most relevant, the one that states that its famous Aqueduct was built by Diablo himself in one night.
On the outskirts of the city, in front of the Alcazar and halfway to Zamarramala, a beautiful and lonely octagonal church, attracts attention.
Some say that it belonged to the Knights Templar, although its construction is officially attributed to the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher and from the fifteenth century, to the Order of the Knights Hospitallers.
Among the many legends associated with this church and the Templars, is that popularly known as the legend of the ashen cat.
She says that a lady, in love with a Knight Templar, went to an alchemist to give her a filter of love with which to get the favors of him, who cheated drank the potion that the lady offered, being immediately so pledged she, who stealing the treasure that her brothers kept in the church of Vera Cruz, tried to escape with the lady.
When he was surprised by the Grand Master, he cursed him to become an ashen cat, who was to guard, with nails and teeth and for all eternity, the treasure that his brothers kept in this holy place.
They say the inhabitants of Segovia, who sometimes see wandering around the church of Vera Cruz, a huge ashen cat, who snorts and shows his claws to all those who approach the church with bad intentions.
