Just before Christmas we received a letter in our mailbox saying someone local had lost their cat, and there had been a kitty cruising around i had spotted a few times that looked kind of similar to the one on the letter so we started leaving a bowl of kitty bikkies out the front to see if we could attract him [or any other kitties that needed some food] and maybe return him to his owners, and while the bowl was empty in the morning it seemed to be coming while i was asleep, so i picked up a cheap motion camera from amazon and started training it on the bowl.
It turned out the kitty that was coming was not the lost one [and i still really hope they find him] but this camera has become such a great source of entertainment!
There has now been 4 different cats that have visited, and various birds and its great because i know i couldn't get up to them this close in person but as they don't know the camera is there they feel free to act as they please and sometimes it is pretty funny :)
So far the main 3 are a black and white kitty, who likes to eat and then jump up and lay down on the chair next to the food, a grey striped kitty who likes to eat then run away quickly, and a little white and orange spotted guy who i have seen in the backyard a few times when we first put the bird feeder and bird bath out, gotta collect them all :)
The camera also picks up on lighting and random bugs that crawl on the window as well, sometimes its a surprise what comes up on the footage!
Seeing as things are pretty wild covid wise in Sydney I'm not going out at all [we bulk shop and I work from home, so i mean AT ALL] its good to have something new to watch that's not the TV. Sometimes when the notifications go off on my phone ill sneak up to the window and try peek out the blinds at them but it doesn't work half the time, somehow the cats just know!
This is the grey striped kitty, hes always so quick, eats and gets out pretty quickly
This is the black and white one, he takes his time and cruises around like he owns the place, i love it :)
The birds probably crack me up the most, this pair are always together and even though they are the same size, one must be the baby because he doesnt even try eat from the bowl, he just squawks and the other one feeds him!! And if any other birds come along he puffs himself up to twice his size, pretty impressive and pretty funny lol.
Best purchase this year so far!!
