Koyuki was my duaghter's cat. She was another shelter kitty. My wife got her for my daughter on her birthday, a rag doll with blue eyes. A princess fit for a princess
She was the exact opposite of our other cat Chai. She was a princess and acted like one. She would only let you pet her when she wanted you to pet her, humans are dirty. She would never think of eating my wife's plants or flowers and loved any meat offerings we gave her. She was a normal cat.
Ok, she wasn't completely normal, but what cat is?
She was a great ambush predator. She loved to hide in things and jump out at you.
She was always around when we needed her.
And sometimes when we didn't...
So why am I speaking in the past tense about Koyuki? Well, when we moved to Japan 2 years ago we could only take one cat at that time. It's very expensive and the paperwork takes a long time. So, we asked my wife's good friend to take care of her for us until we could send for her. That friend had her own cat and adored Koyuki. As time went on the friend asked us if she could keep Koyuki. It was a very hard decision as I liked Koyuki a lot compared to our other cat. It was ok though as long as they could come visit her when they come back to the states. And so it was, Koyuki found her new home, with a loving new owner and boyfriend cat.
I haven't been over to see Koyuki yet and I don't think I want to after writing this post. She was almost the perfect cat and seeing her might open a wound I'd rather leave just scarred. We have great memories with her and that should suffice.
Here are a few more pictures.
Best friends, Chai & Koyuki

That's a very cute cat.
Ya, she was gorgeous. Good personality too.
How sweet!!! What a huge sacrifice to give up your little baby, but, I am in the same boat with moving and so I have had to do the same.
Happy #Caturday! Upvoted!
Sorry to hear you have to go through the same thing. I have to think of it this way, we have great memories and she is in a good home with a friend.
True! The military didn't take any pity! LOL
Thank you for sharing Koyuki's story.
I really enjoyed this story and all of the wonderful pictures. That was a tough decision but at least you know that Koyuki is in good hands.
Thanks What. Yes, she is in good hands and has a boyfriend. Couldn't be too bad.
I want to move to Japan. a lot of love and compassion for cats.
Visit first, then the drive will be unstoppable. Cats are booming in Japan.
