Excellent day for all of you, today in this # heavenly challenge thanks to @steemchurch, @sirknight for allowing us in this space to share with this community, I am pleased to talk about Los Gorilas De Montaña, an endangered species.
The gorillas of mountain, of scientific name Gorilla beringei Beringei and also known like gorillas of silver back, can be found in the forests of Zaire, Rwanda and Uganda, and mainly everything in the Virunga mountains.
Unlike other gorillas, his hair is darker and longer, due to his adaptation to the ground his feet resemble those of man.
This type of mountain gorillas can be identified from each other by the distinctive features of their nose, unique to each individual, their black fur coats their body, except the face, the palms of their hands and feet.
They are very social, individuals live in relatively stable groups, strongly cohesive and united by long-term ties between males and females.A typical mountain gorilla group is led by the largest and strongest adult male.
The female of this species matures first than the male, so that this can reproduce has to wait to be between 15 and 20 years of age.Half of all male gorillas leave their natal groups at puberty and travel alone or with other subordinate male gorillas until they establish their own group.
When a male gorilla establishes a group, he will most likely stay with that group for life, unless he is overthrown by another male gorilla, stronger and more powerful.
The fights for the access to the females are intense and can cause until the death of some.Adult female gorillas can give birth to a baby every four years, are born weighing between 1.8 and two kilograms (3-4 pounds) after a gestation period that varies between 251 and 295 days.
Babies always stay with their mothers and start walking after 30 or 40 weeks and are breastfed for 12 months.
They have a low reproduction rate.This slow reproduction makes the conservation of the species even more threatened.They give birth for the first time at the age of 10 years, never before, and can have babies every four years or more.
Due to accidents and illnesses, many baby gorillas die in the first year of life and almost half of all gorillas die before reaching adulthood.Their maximum life expectancy is difficult to assess, there is still no knowledge of mountain gorillas living in captivity.
They are characterized by being intelligent and gentle, but when they have to defend the rights of the family or their dominant role, they show off all their power.
Their food includes a variety of plants, for sleeping they make a nest.
Those who are lighter nest in the trees and make their beds on bent branches, while the heavier ones do so on grass from the ground.Babies cuddle with their mothers.
The life of the mountain gorillas is not very peaceful, and they are in danger of extinction, the hunters kill them to eat them or display them as hunting trophies. The forests where they live are also cut down for farmland, fuel extraction and housing construction
