John 9:5
While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
But why do flying insects tend to behave so irrationally? Why do they bump against a bulb repeatedly until they get scorched by the heat it emits? The answer is much more coherent than one might think.
In normal situations some nocturnal insects are attracted to natural light to guide their behavior. The light of the Moon gives this type of insects called lucifuge a perfect reference point to orient themselves properly, an orientation that stars also provide.
Light, in addition to serving its daily organization, also exerts a peculiar effect among these insects. The intensity of natural light comes from a distant distance, which is why it is equal in both eyes of the insect, coordinating its movements; However, when light gives more in one eye than in another (as happens with artificial light) insects tend to move more frequently one wing than another, which explains their circular movement around a light bulb.
