Greetings my people of #STEEMIT, as always I want to start this article by thanking @sirknight for allowing us to express ourselves through #celestialchallenge.
Today, Tuesday we will talk about #Darkness.
In this opportunity I will speak to you of a legend very well known in my country.
the legend of #LaLlorona
Dona Mercedes Santamaría was a landowner who lived in what was still known as "New Spain" in the eighteenth century. Her husband, who constantly made trips to Europe to bring fabrics, animals and food that were not yet available in the American continent, had left for more than four months and the woman had no news of him.
Her friendships soon filled her head with catastrophic ideas about her husband's fate, mainly because they wanted that lady to return to the Iberian peninsula and thus keep their land.
More when he was about to take the decision to leave for his country, he met a young man named Indalecio, who conquered her instantly. The couple began a torrid romance in secret and after a year Dona Mercedes was preparing to give birth to her firstborn son.
The midwife came to the hacienda and after a few hours the property was filled with the crying of the newborn. However, the happiness was very short, since at about three o'clock in the morning, loud blows and voices at the front door caused the woman to wake up startled.
- Open Mercedes! I'm Agustín, tell the servants to let me pass.
What happened was that her husband had returned after more than two years of his departure. The woman ran to the child's cradle, took him out of there and ran with him in her arms towards the back door.
He walked quickly until he came to a river that was near the property. He took the child and dipped his head in the water until it stopped breathing. Immediately, feeling the cold skin of his offspring, began to scream like a crazy "Oh my son."
Nothing was ever heard of Mercedes again. However, those who live in that locality say that their cries are still heard.
