Dear Steemians, of all the celestial objects know to us, the sun stands out, globally. It's abilities are limitless, It's power, far reaching. The world would look like a blank TV screen without it, the plants wouldn't grow, In size, every other solar body is incomparable and without it, all other solar bodies would be hidden in darkness. Our Ever-wise Creator knew of the importance of this celestial body, It was his first creation, and He said "Let there be light" He said and there was.
The Sun Makes everything visible. I wonder what your reaction would be if one evening, while watching the news, it was announced that the sun no longer worked, that it had gone out, that is to say that you wouldn't be able to tell last night from tomorrow morning. Just imagine! Our world would be subjected to perpetual darkness. Food would become a scarce commodity around the globe, how would we survive without food? The sun is the greatest source of heat, how would we warm ourselves against the cold? Really, just close your eyes and imagine a world without the sun, could it exist?
Some scientists say that the sun is also a star, thereby making it look common. But if I were to ask, how many stars look like the sun? the answer is none. So therefore, if the sun truly is a star, then it is a star unlike any other.
The sun is what makes things beautiful, it brings out the colour in things. The flowers, the trees, the sea and the mountains, we wouldn't be able to appreciate nature's beauty without the sun.
Of course, some would say that just like switching on the refrigerator, a bottle of water doesn't immediately turn cold, yes! If the sun went off, it would take a while, maybe a week or two before we are at freezing point. And maybe there would be alternatives as some say like taking a submarine to the warmest parts of the ocean but for how long? and then again, the sun keeps the planets in orbit around it, what would happen to the planets if it stopped working?
Okay, picture wrapping a string of rope around a stone piece and then turning the string in such a way that the stone revolves round and then suddenly letting go. What's your guess as to what would happen? The stone would fly off into space until it is stopped by something else or falls to the ground due to gravity. Without the sun's gravity, the earth and the other planets would spiral away, until collision takes place. Now, picture two planets colliding.
In 2008, the University of California reported two planets orbiting around a sun-like star colliding, Gregory Henry said, and i quote "If any life was present on either planet, the massive collision would have wiped out everything in a matter of minutes — the ultimate extinction event."
The Sun is an extraordinary creation and it's abilities go beyond my mention.

Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.
