ARMADILLOS(MAMMALS):
Hey guys, I am so excited to share this unbelievable animal with you. It is one of the newest little critters at the zoo.oh my God, this is our nine-banded ARMADILLO having a hard shell on its back. these three abandoned in his back. Nine-banded ARMADILLO there are a couple different species of Armadillo but none of them at here in the UNITED STATES. they are more of a green color a little bit bigger in size but let's talk about him.
The scientific name is Dasypodidae, their lifespan about 12 to 15 years, height is 15 to 25 cm, The Gestation period is about 122days, Mass is 2.5 to 6.5 kg, Gaint armadillo is 19 to 33kg. Armadillos are placental mammals with a leathery armor shell.
He curls up because if he upset or something trying to attack him, he can roll up into a ball and that will keep them nice and safe. there are only a few predators big enough and strong enough to through that shell something maybe like JAGUAR or LEOPARD. These are found in Brazil which is obviously down in SOUTH AMERICA. they walk through nails.
they will use that to actually care for termite mounds that is one of their main sources of FOOD their bugs and insects and those claws allow them to dig into those mounds. All little hairs coming out of their body.
Armadillo can carry leprosy and leprosy is a really weird disease that we used to be bald. One thing that their claws are incredibly sharp. they can be considered a Keystone species in many areas. some people eat an Armadillo during the great depression used to, people in Texas actually used to eat these animals. The Armadillo has very small eyes and they have poor eyesight but they have an excellent Sense of smell and hearing.
ANOTHER SUBFAMILIES(GLYPTODON):
The Glyptodon was the large mammals in size. Glyptodon means craved and grooved tooth. It was 11 feet in length, 5 feet in height and Weight up to 2 tons. These mammals lived during the Pleistocene Epoch. They were relatives of Armadillos and they were herbivores feeding on grass or leaves. They lived in North and became discovered around 10,000 years ago.Its shell had thousands of thick bone plates.The tail of Glyptodon had protection bones.
ARMADILLOS GIRDLED LIZARD( REPTILES):
The scientific name is Ouroborus Cataphractus, their lifespan about 12 to 15 years, height is 10.5 cm, Mass is 2.5 to 6.5 kg. It is also known as Golden Armadillo Lizard. it can be light or dark brown color, underbelly is yellow in color. it feeds mainly on small invertebrates such as insects or spiders and some time they eat plants material. Armadillo girdled lizard rolls into the ball when frightened. It gives birth one to five young at a time. they are mostly found in desert areas
along the western coat of SOUTH AFRICA.
