New Moon at dusk reflecting on the ocean as it sets above a towering Cumulus cloud. The long exposure image shows more than the thin crescent, revealed the dark ( night ) side of the moon. This side is lit by the Earth. Easily visible to the naked eye when the sky becomes dark enough, the subtle light is called earthshine or the Da Vinci Glow , first described by Leonardo da Vinci in the 16th century.
