Today I present this beautiful bird, The macaw
It is a very popular bird because of its striking and colorful plumage, is very intelligent (able to learn and understand up to 30 words), can live more than 50 years.
The favorite food of the macaws is the fruit and the seeds. If these foods are not within their reach they tend to move towards the cultivated land to go in search and capture of corn and other crops.
The macaws walk in groups when they move from one place to another. they tend to scream in chorus, and this provokes a great hubbub when they are in a group preening, eating or sunbathing. they tend to remain silent when they are raising the little ones.
The majority live in the hollows of the trees. They are usually in pairs or groups that exceed a dozen. The females lay a maximum of two or three eggs per gestation.
It is currently in danger of extinction, since it is captured by animal traffickers and marketed as a pet bird. Even many of these birds die in the smuggling process, as they are transported in boxes without the possibility of breathing oxygen. When used as a pet, it is an intelligent and inquisitive bird but it is perhaps, of all the great macaws, the one that leads the loneliness, so it is recommended that you live with another bird, which does not necessarily have to be species. Its large size and its enormous activity make it require large cages and room to move.
