In the middle of nowhere
I found myself
To the left I looked
But it was void of a living soul
Then to the right
But I caught no glimpse of hope
Turning to my back
I saw a monster
Ready to pounce on me
Quickly, I turned to my front
There I saw a tiny light of hope
Springing up from afar
With my strength I flew
Towards that light of hope
With my strength I ran
Determined never to give up
Nor let that door of hope
Closing slowly shut me in there
Turning back I saw
The monster closing up on me
I flew with my whole strength
Getting close to the door
Which now has a very narrow escape route
I escaped with the door shutting on the monster
I woke up wondering what had just happened to me
Then the whole truth dawned on me
From the surprised faces of mourners
Who surrounded me
I had travelled to the great beyond
And my determination had given me victory at last.
Thanks for the contest by @sndbox. It gave me an opportunity to narrate how I came back to life when everyone thought I was dead!
