I repaired my screen cell 2 times. Yeah usual mess like anyone else. First time, I drop it from my pant's pocket by stepping out of the car. I paid a technician to fix it. Second time, I "left" my cell in my back pocket of my pants, while sitting and all. Yeah, i have a super hardened butt... This time I fixed it myself. I was suprised of how easy it was to replace the touch screen. Made me almost regret to let a tech do it.
AND recently, my cell was powering off by itself. Yeah, an automatic power turn off. I was pissed. Asked the tech what should I do. He told me buy another one, your cell is old enough! WHAT ?!! shuddappppp, its only 2 years old! I know that technology is a planned obsolescence subject but I coud believe it was already done especially that my cell is still looking mint.
So looked up for solutions. Came change your power button. I didnt do it because it need soldenring and to buy a new internal power button. Putting it inside a freezer so the debris around the power button would contract. There was danger of condensation there. Another idea was to whack the button. I dont believe that violence and electronics fits well together even though sometimes I would. Reminds of that movie Armageddon, where the russian guy is smashing that piece of space instrument made in Taiwan and manage to make it work. Lucky I guess and a movie scene. The last solution, just clean it. That's what I did. Cotton swab combined with isopropyl alcohol. I opened my cell (it wasnt the first time, just look it up), scrub my tool on the button and anywhere that is not clean. I would have threw some compressed air on it but I was too lazy and also knew it worked already.
YESSS it worked! I AM A SUPER CELL TECHNICIAN! thank you Internet supporters!!! I LOVE YOU
I loved my Nexus 5 so much, and then one day it suddenly died on me mid call...I was so devastated. I was oddly attached to it. To this day, still the best phone I have ever owned.
Glad you managed to fix your baby OP. Keep that thing clean and taken care of.
yeah ! its one of the easiest cell to fix, but I heard even though its easy, the nexus 5 always find another to break down.
