The Turning Angel
There is a statue of an angel at the front of the Natchez City Cemetery that, as you approach, appears to turn to greet you. The statue has been named, "The Turning Angel". This has been a Natchez legend for years.
The inscription on the monument says: "Erected by the Natchez Drug Company to the memory of the unfortunate employees who lost their lives in the great disaster that destroyed its building on march 14, 1908." The five girls who were killed are buried under the watchful gaze of the angel. Commissioned by the Natchez Drug Company, the artist carved it in such a way to form an optical illusion. Approaching the statue from the correct angle makes it appear to turn as you grow nearer. -Info from a Cemetery handout.

looked at his account and he only votes for himself. He's got a nice thing going for himself. Not a community person at all. If I could I would flag him and take his SBD away. I did report him to steemcleaners. Don't know if they do anything about this kind of thing.
I saw another guy on a friend's post doing the same thing. It is such bad manners to do this. I've had the same kind of thing by an orca. Shocked. He's not even new.

Allah has made a graveyard with the help of the angels, because they have killed innocent people wrongly. Thank you very much for this, because you have posted a wonderful one.

Fascinating statue. Did you experience the turning of the angel? Not knowing it's an optical illusion you might find it strange seeing it turn.
I didn't know to look for it until after we had left. I thought she was named that because she was turning pages!

If I recall it was a natural gas explosion that blew up the building an killed the girls. Natchez was an interesting place to visit. I will do another post on that cemetery. It was incredibly interesting....I learned much more after I got home and read about it online!

I found some photos I took a few years ago....I'd forgotten about them. Cemeteries....I didn't remember until I saw them. I'll have to get my act together and share. Your angel reminded me of one as well....don't know where it is, but I'll find it.

Nice work. There are often really beautiful and emotional things to photograph at old cemeteries. I will never forget visiting the old Jewish cemeteries in Prague and Kolin in the Czech Republic.
