02 Crash on fiercely or gently, 2015

in #ceramics7 years ago (edited)

Hi, everyone. This is my work from 2015 when I was in Sheridan College.

How does emotions and relationships impact you?

This work is based on my reading of how emotions (from surroundings to be specific effact on individual) I wanted to achieve a calmness within this piece. But also a illusion of water flowing just like emotions.

Waves constantly crash on fiercely or gently just as we experience emotions dramatically and unexpectedly. I imagine fierce yet gentle splashing waves on sphere and volumetric bodies of water. Soaring hands, above and below the water, create a platform to support a figure, peaceful yet fragile. I hope to convey these points of view through the scale, shapes, colours and gestures of human anatomy. This work is inspired by personal experience and theme of surrealism. I explore themes of emotion and communal effort in abstract ways
