The Oscars are an accolade that are given annually for recognizing excellence in films. The awards are often given at a formal ceremony. In the first award ceremony, fifteen statuettes were awarded and it was held in 1929. The winners of the awards are also selected by the Academy, which includes approximately 60,000 industry professionals. Currently, the Oscars have more than a dozen categories and also include various different types of film. They have a separate category for writer(s), original music score, cinematography and screenplay. The Oscars take place in February of each year. The Oscars are more formally known as the Academy Awards because it is organized and overseen by AMPAS. An Oscar is interchangeable for an Academy Award.

Emmy Awards are an accolade that are given annually for recognizing excellence in the television industry. The Engineer Louis McManus used his wife as the model to degin the Emmy statuette. The Emmy Awards are run and maintained by three organizations: Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS), the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The first award ceremony was held in 1949 and they are still presented in different annual ceremonies throughout the year. The ceremonies are held to honor each and every field, like Sports Emmy Awards, Technology and Engineering Emmy Awards, Daytime Emmy Awards, News and Documentary Emmy Awards, International Emmy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards.
