not native English language users

in #chainbb-general8 years ago (edited)

Do you think nonEnglish posts and users are doomed on #streemit?

I mean... I know I can create a sort of community on my naitive language, I can appeal to people who use and understand my native language too

But what is a change for a big whale would notice my post or somebody would motivated to copy-past my post to Google translate and understand something?

It looks like: learn English or to be never noticable on #steemit

Yeh, English is not my native language and I would prefer to know it better

Please, tell me if you ever have language problems on Steem and how did you resolve them?

Sort:

Yeah you should invite more people in your country to join Steemit. I am a Chinese and I go to the cn tag to read some Chinese sometimes, but I guess I usually use English as it's not really a language problem for me.

I accept point it's not a problem for you.... but if your all fellows know Ehglish well?

My post is: YES - I can invite and grow RU community but would it be noticeble by English speaking whales?

As long as your posts have high payout and big upvote number, I think even they cannot read your language, they would still choose to vote you. So the answer is YES.

So they would vote blindly even if they don't understand for what they are voting?

maybe, in order to get curation rewards

Are you Russian? I think there is even an Russian-only version of Steemit; Golos, so you should check that out.

It's not a question there I can find a platform for me (lGolos? FB? twitter? Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki and et cetera ).

The problem is if you woyld use your native language on #Steemit you would be a ghoust for English language platform

I think you should have a few whales in your language/ethic community, and they are willing to carry the group of people to grow. There are many different language tag as I see on steemit. But without whales, only a chatroom with no profit. Also, the minnow's royality to the group is also a question. They may tend to speak in English to get more upvote and follow rather than own language with limited attention.
To me, it is happy to chat and meet with my language's group I will vote for them (though my SP is very low) and I will mainly written by English to spead message to the mass.

Hmmm ya quite true imo

yes indeed

Whats is your native language?
Hope u can use it in the future time:)

My native language is Russian.

....and how I can use this?

Let your vk friends to join steemit:)

I know and I did this before.
Since I need to ask somebody to join Steem it looks like MLM more and more

Language is not a barrier if you are talented. Make people come to you instead of begging.

I try to do this, but it looks like they prefer to upvote wellknown users but not a newbie with a great artworks.

But I'll continue experiments and try to find my theme

Just express yourself well, no need to be master of English

Thank you for your warm words

I guess it is how we can attract people, sometime it is word, but sometime it may be picture, video or even drawing.l

it sounds like I should learn from flowers

The way I see it: English is the universal language of the world. If you want the world to notice you, you'll have to learn english.
I speak estonian. I think there are about ~10 people from Estonia on Steemit. But I'm not gonna start doing posts in Estonian even if there were a million, because by sticking to your native language you are blocking everyone else.
*that's the key thing. I generally see those "language" tags as very bad things. It will only distance and separate people.
There's only one solution: learn english. It's the most widely known language around the world.

Totally agree with You! I'm from Russia. My native language is Russian, but I don't want to go to Russian "Voice". I want to be here. On Steemit should not be boundaries, but also to create special conditions, no one is obliged. So if we want to understand us, we need to integrate into the community.

Not mean you are doomed, but it does makes things a lot harder. You are also sloppy at writing your own posts. First hashtag in your post body is #streemit, where R is significant human error. So just dont expect that you can throw away post in 10 mins and make money, English native or not.

Cheers

I'm not sure what do you try to imply me

Thank you!

Excellent post. I wish I were multilingual ; however, I am not. English is my language, other than a few words of Spanish, but I enjoy reading posts from other countries. Steemit should put in an automatic translation and grammar button to allow all posts to be read in all languages.

One of the things I enjoy the most about Steemit is how it allows me to have global followers. Wonderful people that share their thoughts, knowledge, and lives with this community. Steemit allows us to be linked to a worldwide community. It allows us to have global friends and to help and be helped if in need. It makes me appreciate that Steemians are not isolated by language, countries, knowledge, finances, etc. It makes me appreciate my friends here on Steemit and our citizenship of the world. All my best to all!

ability to connect with other people is a my personal great pleasure here on Steemit.

I'm happy to be here

try google translate, that is what i do, i work hard.. you are so right.. but steem become more popular and it's our responsible to make more peoples sign up in here.. great post ...

actually #steemit should add a button Translate and just reuse Google functionality for

#changerequeset

yeah and it's so easy to do that..

I've seen posts that are purely in Korean or Chinese. If more of your countrymen joins then it may be better. Let's hope for the best!

my post in short is: #steemit desperately needs "Translate" button

I mean, I understand what do you mean bean a Spanish speaker first, yet I do comment on Spanish channels, however English is the first language for many and the most spoken language as a second language for most of the world.

But I think your goal wouldn't only be notice by whales, but by the community itself, but that is just my opinion.

However if you make the choose you should invest more of your time correcting your English and learning more.

If you are facing some difficulties check my post about learning a new language, https://steemit.com/languages/@siragrays/language-learning-difficulties-1-part-1

I would rather use English, as well I would like to write in other languages when I feel confident with my language ability in those languages.

Siragrays~

I saw your post before.

It's not a matter for investing time/money into learning English . The matter is very free platform Steemit enforces to use/learn English or to die.

Try to imagine how your time/posts/following would be changed if every post would have Translate button and simple autocorrection or grammar checking?

I see, the fact that Steemit is a platform for everybody is makes other languages users a little hard when expressing their ideas English, tho Steemit is pretty young. That could be a cool extension or tagged, And even Useful.

You have not been a member even a month, have over 100 followers, if only we could all be so lucky.

First of all, you need a whale who speak your native language. If you can find one, that will be the best time to create a community of your local language, and make sure you pull that whale in the community. That can definitely help you. #cn community is a very good example.

Thank you for your advice

Im so amazed how this blockchain technology brought up old school gifs in use again and this threading context of communication :)
