Day 4 of the Challenge30 project - Sister-in-Law's birthday gift.

in #challenge308 years ago

Almost missed it!

Another one for the Challenge30 project!

Sorry it’s such an after-thought.

My sister-in-law’s birthday today. She had a very bad time of it last year, broke her elbow in a fall at the beginning of last winter and then everything went wrong.

To try to make her a little more comfortable when she’s trying to rest and relax, I made her a ‘throw’.

I’ve been working on it all over Christmas and I finished it at around midnight last night.

I nipped over to her house at lunchtime today and hubby (@s0u1) and I took the handmade card I made and handed her the afghan/throw. She was delighted and so that made my day too.

Happy Birthday Sheila

It is a throw of real beauty. I love it, I have similar (but of course not as beautiful) around my house.

Thank you! It really did make my day that she liked it. My parents in law liked it too, so it's all good!

If you look at the colour scheme, it's a reverse repeat with the black border in the middle.

Now you're just getting fancy! It looks amazing, you have skills!

Haha not really (and I'm not being modest). I learned to make crochet squares when I was small, but my daughter has taught herself loads more than I know. She's awesome.

Right now, she's making a tapestry blanket with a picture of a dragon on it.

iT'S very beautiful post dear michelle.gent :)

Thank you :) xx

I love to crochet too. Beautifully done - nice gift !!

Thank you :) I think I'm most pleased because Sheila likes it :)

That's the important part isn't it? I've made many blankets over the years but I have never made a large granny square like yours. You've inspired me to do a project with all the left over yarn I have. I'll take a picture if/when I get to making it.

Yes, that's the most satisfying part. Our daughter-in-law saw our granddaughter's 'TV blanket' - the one she snuggles up on the sofa with to watch a film with us. She said she'd like one for Christmas if I could manage it and when her reaction was 'Oh WOW!' I knew I'd done a good job! :)

I'd love to see your blanket as you're making it :)

You're a good MIL. :) Very thoughtful.

I try :)

I had a great teacher. My own mother-in-law is awesome :)
