Thanks to the #challenge30days, i stumbled upon an interesting post from @raluca ...you can see the article here:
The topic really inspired me and i really wanted to add my spin to it, so thanks raluca for sharing the video :)
Meditation and kindness?
Meditation is practicing. And what often happens when we practice something, is that we beginn to judge. For example, while meditating and the mind constantly wanders, we might judge ourselves. And what happens through this is that we aren't actually practicing mindfulness, but rather judgment.
To be honest, this was a bit of an revelation for me. Because i found out that I am actually quite often judging myself while meditating. In the video she tells us to be kind to ourselves instead of judgmental. And i think this goes a long way. Instead of always seeing the bad, acknowledge small wins and celebrate them.
Additionally, kindness should also not be neglected when it comes to our surroundings. Every interaction with another person should be with the maximal amount of kindness possible. And like everything, this doesn't come without practice.
BUT! Trying to be kind to others all the time without being kind to ourselves is actually quite ironic. So kindness should really come from within. And the easiest way to develop that inner kindness, is when we are kind to ourselves.
In the video they recommend by starting out each day by greeting yourself, and wishing you a good morning, and really mean it!
"good morning, Robin"
After getting used to that we can gradually step the game up. Compliment ourselves when we achieve a goal, or do something well.
"great job at the gym today, Robin"
Ultimately, we should be able to say the following and really mean it:
"I love you, [insert your own name]"
Thanks for reading, and stay kind :)
This is part (11) of the 30 days writing challenge by @dragosroua. I combined this with a mindfulness challenge. My goal with this is to improve writing & english skills as well as becoming more self aware.
