So many people reach for an instant mix to make brownies
But what many people don't realize is those box brownies are not good when you compare them side by side with made from scratch brownies. I had planned on posting this recipe last night but due to a storm I couldn't get my hotspot to connect my laptop to the site. So I apologize for the delay I know some of you were expecting this recipe to be posted last night.
The Ingredients
1 1/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or 1 cup of Coconut Oil (I used Coconut Oil this time because I was out of butter, but I like them both ways the coconut oil does give it a slightly different flavor.)
1 cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup nuts (optional)
Stir together flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl
Melt butter or coconut over low heat in a large saucepan
Remove from heat
Stir in cocoa
Blend in sugar, eggs and vanilla
Blend in dry ingredients and nuts if using
Pour batter into a greased 9x13in pan
Bake for 30-35 minutes at 350°F Cool

This sounds really tasty! Thanks for sharing the recipe! I have been wanting to make brownies from scratch but haven't yet. It costs a lot for butter here (and coconut oil). I'll need to find some kind of sub or a recipe that calls for less of those. It would be cheaper (way) to make the box mixes in this case for me...although they probably wouldn't taste half as good! ;)
You can use vegetable oil instead
My mom used to make the very best homemade brownies. I miss both her and her comfort foods...
