I'm Headin' Back to Honduras (Want to help with school supplies?)

in #charity16 days ago

Two years flies by.

In March 2023, I flew to Roatan Island with a suitcase and a half of notebooks, pens & pencils, children's novels, pocket calculators, and even some clothes. I delivered them to our contact, Virginia, down there in the village of Crawfish Rock.

The drive to Crawfish Rock from my hostel was half the adventure. Here, I made a video about it:

After delivering them to Virginia, she brought them to the students.

The year before, we donated cash with which Virginia bought backpacks for several of the students at the Crawfish Rock school.

This is a town of just a few hundred people with a humble school of 60 or so students. We have one 50-pound suitcase to fill. With enough donations, I'll bring a second. I fly out January 31.

If you're in the Twin Cities and would like to donate supplies, I'll be available to arrange pickups until I depart. Otherwise, you can donate cash to the school via:

If you recall, this is the same place we donated to help the "Surfboard Fishermen" get a canoe:

There are as many opportunities to partner with people and projects in need down there as there is interest in doing so. I'll be there for two weeks, so I'll probably encounter more such stories and opportunities to help.

I'll also be on assignment. I'm participating in and writing about Infinita City, a "network city for longevity and biotech acceleration" located at PrósperaZEDE, an economic development zone I've shared about from previous visits.

I'm writing a longform story about this groundbreaking community within this groundbreaking autonomous zone and, in general, sharing more about this upon arrival.

So, from society building to community development, I'm excited for this world-colliding adventure down to Honduras! I'd love to take a piece of you with me in the form of donations to deliver to Virginia. Either way, stay tuned for updates.
