Hello From Honduras!
I'm now into the second week of this two-week stay at Infinita.City biotech community conference here at the Prospera ZEDE on Roatan Island. This is also where I came to deliver some school supplies to the village schoolchildren. So let's start with that...
Last week, I lugged the suitcases down the trail to the school, knocked on the door, and walked in like scholastic Santa Claus.
The students and I unzipped the luggage and laid out all the items—in just enough time for a photo before their hands and minds started exploring all the learning materials, art supplies, and more.
Perhaps this week I'll be able to capture all the items being put to use. But even if not, I'll have another update on how the cash portion of the donation is distributed—now at over $900!
Back at the conference (actually considered a "pop-up city"), check out some of the action here from this past week...
The Academic and Intellectual:
Putting on our thinking caps last week at Infinita City
"The Economics of Science" has been a 10-part lecture series by notable biochemist from England, Dr. Terence Kealey.
"The entire economics of science is just wrong," stated Kealey.
My eyes wide open from that one, my ears were as attentive to hear how he'd explain that claim.
And so he did.
In a course on pitching a startup, Pedro (right) enlightened entrepreneur-students on how to present their company.
Then, in a session on "startup societies," representatives of various such places from around the world offer their perspective and experience about their work—on an island on the Danube, on a fort seven miles off the coast of England, and of course, here at the Próspera special economic zone.
It's not all happening in the classroom.
The Maker Space houses research and experiments on everything from DNA editing to chip implants to cultivating food and 3D printing.
But back in Prof. Kealy's final class, yours truly was inspired to stand up for this "open mic" hour. I presented perhaps my own eye-popping idea about the shift in societies and the end of the nation-state.
This has been just a terrific community for introducing new ideas and cultivating ones attendees introduce and discuss in this supportive atmosphere.

More to come, including this past weekend's "Crypto Cities Summit"!
