Hey there, you can call me Chale (my childhood nickname) I'm really interested in creating a seamless union of traditional design and digital manufacture, and I hope to get this community's help in achieving so.
some things about me:
dropped out of college at 19, worked as a freelancer ever since
Lived in Spain for a year, and traveled around the world seeking inspiration, I've been to the US, Mexico, a big part of western Europe, Australia, Turkey and Greece.
I'm currently developing a brand of consumer ready products to be made by the user on a home 3D printer or laser cutter, I'm all about the 4th industrial revolution and hope to someday create solutions for the most isolated parts of the earth through the digital world.
That 4th industrial revolution is gonna be a hard one, probably going to take generations as we slowly move people out of manufacturing. Can't just fire everyone and build robotic factories :\ Where do you live now? Seems like you've been some cool places.
You make a really valid point, That's something we have to take into account as the first generation adapting to it.
But I like to think that those jobs lost to manufacturing will be made up in creative endeavours and online jobs, that's what I love about this community and the digital age, anyone's got an equally valid voice.
Hopefully, but the economy is also going to have to figure out how to pay fair wages to people within the creative industry, especially as the freelance/gig economy continues to boom. Too many businesses use freelance as a way to avoid benefits, thus putting the cost onto the freelancers, but without raising the pay to make it possible. We're on the brink of some amazing things, but currently it's amazing for only a few of the many. But, keep our heads up, hopes high, and our jaws set to fight to make sure it's all good in the end :)
