I like Ghost Cities. And although, I like to observe people, how the city lives, time runs, history is written. But, I also love to observe the emptiness, when time has stopped and the writing of history has been interrupted. I like to watch when the reality current place is late the reality of the current time in which I live.
Pripyat is interesting to me also because I could visit my past. Here you can really touch what remains only in memory. To some extent, to re-experience some moments, to feel the reality of that time, not in a dream, but here in reality.
I was born in Kazakhstan, in the city of Abay, near Karaganda. In our time, many schools, parks, houses were built according to the same drawings. And when I went to school in Pripyat, I immediately recognized the huge grate fence of the dressing room. The same was in my school, in our city thousands of kilometers from Pripyat. Same park. Same swing from the boats. I remember vividly how my brother and cousins swayed at them. Carousel. Wheel. Electric cars. Typical 9 floors buildings. And much more…
It was as if I was walking in a dream, only this time it was real.
