This is a game from round 4 of the Fide Women's Grand Prix series, which is part of the qualifying cycle for the World Chess Championship and the Women's World Chess Champonship.
Alexandra Kosteniuk VS Natalia Pogonina
Alexandra Kosteniuk
Alexandra Konstantinovna Kosteniuk (Fide rating 2555) was born in 1984, is ranked number 5 among women, and number 470 in the world. She is a Russian Gm with a long list of merits to her name. Her first major victory was winning the European Championship for girls under 10, in 1994. In 1996 she clinched both the European and World titles for girls under 12.
In 2004 she became the European women's champion. She achieved the title of Woman Grandmaster in 1998, International Master in 2000, and in 2004 she achieved the Grandmaster title, becoming the tenth woman to achieve the highest title of the World Chess Federation (Fide).
Her accomplishments are simply too many to list here, but the most important one is her win over the chinese child prodigy Hou Yifan, thereby claiming the title of Woman's world champion, in 2008. She lost the title to Ruan Lufei, in 2010. In 2013 she won the Swiss Championship, first for men, and then for women, becoming the first person to win both the women's and' men's national chess titles in Switzerland.
She is known for her fierce attacking style, and for her fashion modeling, in the interest of promoting chess, like Magnus Carlsen is also known to have done.
Natalia Pogonina
Natalia Andreevna Pogonina (Fide rating 2492) was born in 1985, in Vladivostok, Russia. Her first major accomplishment was winning the Russian under-14 girl's championship. She achieved the title of Woman Grandmaster in 2004. She won the prestigious Moscow open in 2009.
In 2012 she won the Russian Women's Championship, a major accomplishment as Russia has the highest chess level in the world. In 2015 she reached the final of the Women's World Chess Championship, and lost to Maria Muzychuk.
The Matchup
Alexandra Kosteniuk is a quite clear favorite, but remember that chess is always like walking on a tightrope, where the slightest mistake means falling to sudden death. Alexandra will be playing with the white pieces, and this, combined with her being the higher rated player, and the importance of this match, means that I predict that she will try to win, and she is known for her attacking style.

How to Play
Vote on the main post to enter the bet (main post rewards will also be added to the Stake Pool).
Cast your Vote Bet on ONLY ONE outcome for which you bet on for the win (Multiple comment votes will be automatically disqualified by the script, unvote and revote counts as multiple votes and will be disqualified).
After 24 hours, the post and related game comments payout to the pool; remember 25% voters rewards are deducted from the total post payout value first as per Steem curation rules. Voters are rewarded in standard fashion in proportion to their Steem Power holdings.
The Stake Pool:
The remaining 75% of the total payout is paid out in 50% Steem Power and 50% in liquid currencies, the latter now varies in payout ratio after the new fork. To make the process less complicated, we have decided to use all paid out SBD to buy Steem in the internal market to create a grand total Steem Stake Pool.
30% of the Stake Pool will be retained, of which 15% will go to the writer/sports presenter of the post, and the 15% balance towards editing, development and advertising.
70% of the Stake Pool will be held until the event/game outcome is determined.
Once the winning outcome is determined, we will execute a proprietary developed script that will divide and pay out the Steem rewards equally, using the Power Up method, to Mass Distribute SP to all participants that voted on the main post as the entrance fee as well as voted on the correct comment representing the winning outcome.
Only participants with a Reputation of 35 or more will qualify to earn SP rewards, but non-qualifiers can still vote and comment in support of the redistribution initiative.
Entry cut-off time is the earlier of the post payout or the start of the event.

@chessmasters in the unlikely event that when the Stake Pool is divided up between the winners and the nomenclature resolution goes below the third decimal place (example: 0.0001), then Steem decimal restrictions won’t allow a payout and the pool will carry over to the next game.
