I put spaghetti squash, pumpkin, and cantaloupe seedlings in the ground last week and two days later had a dip in temperature and lost all the cantaloupe but the squash and pumpkin are looking good. I also planted 3 varieties of sunflowers along my retaining wall to block out the view of the neighbors and those are up and looking great. Tonight I planted cantaloupe seeds and sweet corn, hope the cantaloupe has enough time to grow from seed. I have jalapenos, tomatoes, and anchos sprouted will be planting those soon. The strawberries in my front yard are huge and going to have a large production this year. Gardening is not my strongest skill but I am slowly learning and getting the hang of it so that I can grow more of my own food. This year I'm going to move my chickens to where I have the garden and use them to till, fertilize, and clean the garden. I plan on having two garden beds to alternate ever other year, using the chickens to prep the unused bed for the next growing season. I figure it will create a nice healthy soil, give them something to do, and give me less lawn to mow.
