The gallon that saved the land

in #childhood4 months ago

One gloomy evening, a woman walked through a dark and endless tunnel, her eyes heavy with sadness. Tears streamed down her face, each drop soaking into the ground around her. Strangely, where her tears fell, vibrant fields of green transformed into a deep, eerie black. It was as if her sorrow had turned to poison, spreading darkness across the land.

A curious young boy noticed the strange sight and felt a tug of worry. This land had always been lush, brimming with life and color. Why was everything dying now? He followed the woman at a distance, observing the destructive path her tears created, and soon he realized it was her sorrow—the tears themselves—that were darkening the land.

Seeing her burdened with such sadness, the boy felt compelled to help. He thought of a plan and, with small, nimble hands, quickly gathered materials: an old, broken jar, some thin pipes from a nearby workshop, and an empty gallon jug he found lying by the road. With creativity beyond his years, he crafted a small contraption that would collect her tears, sparing the crops from their dreadful touch.

With quiet determination, the boy approached the sorrowful woman once again. She seemed lost in her grief, her gaze unfocused, hardly noticing him. Gently, he held up his creation, motioning to her eyes. She blinked, confused but intrigued by the boy’s unusual gesture. She allowed him to place the makeshift container just beneath her eyes, positioning the pipes so that each tear would flow safely into the gallon.

It worked. With each tear the woman shed, the boy’s contraption caught it, carrying the sorrowful drops away from the fragile earth. Her sadness continued to flow, but the darkness no longer spread. The crops remained untouched, their vibrant green a reminder of resilience.

The woman looked down at the boy, gratitude and surprise dawning in her weary eyes. For the first time in what felt like ages, a small smile broke through her sadness. The boy’s kindness and cleverness had given her the gift of release—she could finally grieve without causing harm.

And so, they walked together down the dark path, her tears flowing gently into the container, no longer a curse upon the land. The crops held their color, and the once-gloomy tunnel seemed a little brighter with each step forward.

This story is my own creation, inspired by everyday moments and experiences. I hope it brings you inspiration, and may success be with you all.
