When you visit China, you must be aware of this: You CAN’T use Google, Google map, Youtube, Playstore, Netflex, etc in China. So, you must download VPN.
Actually I don’t know the deep meaning of VPN so I searched Google.
“A VPN or Virtual Private Network is a method used to add security and privacy to private and public networks, like WiFi Hotspots and the Internet. VPNs are most often used by corporations to protect sensitive data” -Google-
Maybe you would choose one or two Vpn apps that someone recommended. I think most of the Vpn work well in other countries except China. So what I recommend is download as many Vpn apps as possible. There are a lot of times that a Vpn doesn’t work even though it worked well in other countries. However, if you download lots of Vpn apps, when the others don’t work, at least one usually works. I think the reason why VPN apps sometimes don’t work well in China is because of the regulation of the Chinese government. If you use Samsung or any other smartphone which have Playstore, you have to download good VPN apps in other countries. If you don’t have any Vpn app or the apps you have don’t work in China, you can’t download one in the Playstore, because you can’t even open the Playstore!! (AppStore is working in China)
When you search ‘VPN’ , there will be so many VPN apps that it could be hard to decide which one you should use. So I want to introduce VPN apps that I use. This is a highly subjective point of view and I will only recommend you VPN apps used in smartphone not in computer.
1. GoldenKey
It has 10 days of free use period and then you can decide to pay or not. I used this for 10 days, and only once or twice it didn’t work. I really loved this app so I tried to pay for it. There are three methods to pay: Alipay, Credit Card, Paypal. When I click Alipay, it says that this is only for Chinese. Then I tried the other methods, but it always makes errors. I think maybe the second problem only applies to me, so perhaps you can pay it successfully.
Can you see the ‘Sign+10min’ button bottom of the picture? Though free use period ended and you didn’t pay for it, you can use this VPN for 10 minutes by pressing this button. This app usually works well, so when all of the VPN apps you have don’t work, you can use this temporarily.
2. Turbo VPN (free)
When I used this in Korea it always worked well, but in China sometimes it doesn’t work. Still, this is one of my favorite VPN apps because the connecting time is very short and the app’s image is so cute and simple.
3. SuperVPN (free)
It's quite useful
4. 91VPN (free)
When I use 91VPN and watch Youtube, the quality of videos is sometimes bad.
5. TouchVPN (free)
I found this app's connecting time is long, but still useful.
6. Betternet 7.Hola!VPN(free) I found many blogs recommended Betternet, but it never worked in my smartphone, so did HolaVPN.
When I came to China three weeks ago, There were only TouchVPN and Turbo VPN in my Samsung smartphone. Unfortunately both of them didn't work, so I went to the PlayStore but I couldn't open it and I heard that no one can open the PlayStore without VPN in China. I searched Naver(Search engine like Goolgle used in Korea) about VPN in China and the article said Chinese government tighten regulations of VPN. I was truely frustrated. I had no choice but trying VPN again and again. Finally it worked, so I downloaded as many VPN apps as possible. I want to prevent this thing happens to other people so I wrote about VPN even though I don't know much about it. I hope this post is helpful for you.
