The Wisest Man Who Ever Lived - Pastor Carter Conlon - Times Square Church - 09.09.2018

Solomon was the wisest man to ever live because of God's answer to his prayer, but despite his knowledge of the scriptures - even penning many inspired verses himself - he strayed from obedience. Perhaps he considered himself to be an exception to the rules. Reading Ecclesiastes is even more heartbreaking knowing that he wrote down his own distraught future decades earlier. We have the chance in our generation to ask God for wisdom, and we must supplement it with an obedient heart. Lord Jesus in this moment we need a touch from you. Give us clean hands and pure hearts! Fill up our joy and strengthen our faith. Show us how to turn away from everything that hinders us.

My son, pay attention to my wisdom;
Lend your ear to my understanding,
That you may preserve discretion,
And your lips may keep knowledge.
For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey,
And her mouth is smoother than oil;
But in the end she is bitter as wormwood,
Sharp as a two-edged sword.
Her feet go down to death,
Her steps lay hold of hell.
Lest you ponder her path of life—
Her ways are unstable;
You do not know them.

Proverbs 5:1-6

Sort:

Solomon was both the wisest man who ever lived and the biggest fool that ever lived. Solomon abandoned God for the gods of his young foreign wives. Because of that the kingdom was divided and at least 100,000 soldiers died because of him.
