RE: Prophetic Warning (Ph)

I can understand how you feel about the Chinese agenda/propaganda (eg. spreading their culture to more places) and your point about Mazu overlapping with the role of God.

I'd first like to point out that the Chinese have numerous gods that each specialize in an aspect of life. Mazu, for instance, is the goddess of the sea. She protects the fishing boats from harm and ensures their safe return home from the sea.

This obviously clashes with the traditional Christian view that there is one and only God.

However, this is the 21st century and it is inevitable that multiple cultures will meet and overlap. We must learn to accept these overlapping aspects and move forward together as a population.

Instead of antagonizing the statue and the arranged festivities as an "abomination", or "curse", or "stronghold of witchcraft", we should appreciate the statue and the festivities as tokens of friendship, economic partnership, and peace between two nations and cultures.
