What aspects of my spirit should I change?
The spirit is the part of the human being that can commune with God. His Spirit must be cleansed from all contamination.
Social Life
Unfortunately the friendships we have could cause our spirit to become contaminated, this will happen if we are not cautious and share with it in everything. Ephesians 5:7 "Be not therefore partakers with them: for once ye were darkness, but now ye are light in the Lord: walk as children of light. This does not mean that we cannot work or be where there are people who do not know the Lord. We are not out of the world, and therefore we have to have a relationship with them, and share the message with them. What we are forbidden is to do the same sinful things that they do or to indulge in the actions that others do. Ephesians 5:12 "For it is shameful to speak even of what they do in secret.
Religious Life
When we feel a need for God, it is our Spirit who perceives this lack, and when we look for something other than the living God to fill that need, we defile our Spirit. There are two things that can defile our spirit in this sense:
It is all that he occupies the first place in his life that is not God. The first place in our life belongs to God, and if that place is occupied by money, sport, a son, an idol, etc., we are polluting our spirit. We must put God first. That is why we must be careful not to offend God by placing idols in our homes. Exodus 20:3 says, "Thou shalt have no other gods before Me; thou shalt not make for thyself any image, or any likeness, of that which is above in heaven, or that which is beneath, or that which is on earth, or that which is in the waters under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor honor them: for I am the Lord thy God, strong and jealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, even unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, and showing mercy by the thousands to them that love me, and keep my commandments.
b) Witchcraft
Everything that is tried to intervene in the spiritual world that is not according to the word of God. You may want to use unbiblical means to fix your problems, but in doing so, you will be polluting your spirit as for example to use: Garlic hanging on the door, red ribbons on children's burials, glasses of water with pictures, all those filthy things are unpleasant to God. The Bible teaches us that we must bring our needs before God and trust Him to respond to our requests.
