Then, He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart(Lk. 2:51)
• Jesus was born into a highly favoured family chosen by God, the Father, and He was contented being there. This humility in practice.
• Just as He chose to obey his Father in Heaven, He also chose to obey the earthly father who never understood some of His words and works (Lk.2:49-50 NIV)
49“Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”
50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.
• He went to a marriage ceremony with them (jn. 2:1-8). He also attended the temple in Jerusalem with the family
( Lk. 2:41)
Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover.
He was obedient to the parents. Where are such parents/children relationships today?
•Though it was clear that He had larger families ( Mt. 13:55-58; Mt 3:31-35) yet He handed over His mother to one of His brothers at the point of His glorious death.
(John 19:25-27)
25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,”
27 and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.-NIV
