Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Romans 4:7 KJV

Far too many people are overweight. What a lot they do in their effort to reduce the excess fat! Dieting in various forms, athletic activity and visiting fitness centers. These maybe more or less successful but many people diet for lengthy periods without seeing any permanent results.

The excess pounds are still there, and the disappointments increase! Perhaps someone comes to the conclusion: "I won’t step on the scale again. Then at least I will spare myself the frustration!"
This is understandably enough, but it is ostrich policy! It is not the solution to the problem. One day the body reacts, and its language may prove heart-rending.

Ignoring human directives is one thing, shutting one’s eyes to Gods moral standards is another. We find God's standards in the Bible. There, He reveals what He expects of us. Just think of the Ten Commandments. Do you not sense that you fall short of them?

The thought makes us uneasy and many try to suppress it. They stop reading the Bible and more don't bother to get one at all. They close their ears to the admonitions of their conscience. And give their time to all sorts of things hoping to be lost in pleasure and forget all about these admonitions. But it is of no use. The day will surely come, as there surely comes night and day, when we have to answer before God- it is inevitable.

What can we do? We must come to God with the guilt of our life, confessing our sins by name before Him. If we uncover them before God, then He will forgive and they will not be mentioned again. All is forgiven and we look forward then to stand before God without fear.

People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. Proverbs 28:13

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.-1 John 1:9

Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has taken away your sin; you shall not die. -2 Samuel 12:13

I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"; And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah. -Psalm 32:5
