Making Time With HIM

in #christian-trail7 years ago

This topic I have chosen has actually been given many names. Some may put it quiet time, finding time with Him. And others fellowship with Him. Be that as it may, the central idea still holds. Remember, the word is a mirror and keeps reflecting different level of beauty when we look into it. Do you believe this too?

Often this topic under discussion, we ask but who has time? How can I make time from these busy schedules and long to-do list to fellowship with HIM? These are excuses, and I call them "phantoms of the mind that preach timeless and spaceless in the sphere of spiritual life building". Lets share what we know to help build ourselves to meet the glory of our Father. Yours is the comment box.

Should We Do What Is Important Or What Is Urgent?
As Christians and seekers of the truth, our fellowship and relationship with Christ Jesus is the most important thing in our lives. Isn't that what the Bible tells us? The Bible admonishes that we seek first the kingdom of God. Making time with Him is a surest way of seeking the kingdom. It is not solely about going to church to fellowship in a group. We have choices based on what we make. We do what we like most. We probably might not be doing the best choices for us if it is not what God says or wants us to do.

Why Making Time With God After Sunday Or Saturday Services
God is our Father who brought us forth into being. He wants us to know Him as He had known us. He therefore wants us to meet and spend time alone with Him daily. This daily meeting and spending time with God helps us commune and hears His voice. This brings about growth in our spiritual lives. Isn't it awesome to have this opportunity?

When And Where Can I Meet Up With God?
Often we wonder where we could possible sit or stand to have time with God. We excuse ourselves with work load and the time available. These are, however, my opinion on these worries;
The requirement is rich time with God. Your meeting time with God can fluctuate based on your daily busy schedules. The most important thing is that you would spend some rich time with Him. Not in a rush or under pressure.

Mark 1:35
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

Matthew 14:23
And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

The above two verses demonstrated instances in relation to time when Jesus prayed. In Mark's account, He prayed in the morning and prayed in the evening in the account of Matthew at different days altogether. Have you asked yourself why He sent away the multitudes before going to the mountain apart to pray alone?

The place of making time with Him can also be varied. It could be in the office, room or any safe place. You can go to work early and spend some time with Him before your schedules. You can even spend time with Him in the office after work in the evening, there is nothing wrong with it. Going to church early and spend some time with your Father before church service is another enjoyable moment.
Jesus prayed at one point on a hill, Luke 22:39-45 and another point, at the Upper Room. That is John Chapter 17.

In conclusion, making time with God makes us feed on His Word. Feeding leads to growth. It is very important to state that, in this exercise, patience matters. You do not need to rush to cover up more pages without taking the content into your head or understanding it. It is similar to eating. No matter how hungry you are, we do not eat with both hands.
May God bless us all and keep us alive for another blessed day.

My humble greetings;

I agree. We actually do have time to spend with the Lord. We just fill it up with phone time, computer, tv, social media, etc.

The time I feel like I really dig deep into God's Words is usually when I write down my thoughts and ask questions about what Ive read.

I learned one strategy of Bible reading... You can ask 20 or more questions on a single Bible verse or paragraph. Keep asking questions that can be answered from that given text. It is a good exercise! If you can't ask 20 questions. You can do less.

Or ask 3 questions

  1. What did I just read
  2. How does it apply to me
  3. What does this tell me about God's character

Thank you @dadup for your massive input. You have blessed me with another recipe by asking questions method.
