Matthew 5: 48 reads Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
That place speaks about perfection. Living a perfect life just like our Father in heaven is attainable as Christians.
Most times, we usually say we are not perfect and that God understands our weakness. I would say that this is a statement used to justify sin at times.
Jesus Christ is our role model, and while on earth he understood what it feels like to be human, to have weaknesses, to face temptations and distractions, yet he charges us to be perfect. In all these things, he conquered and fulfilled his purpose. All he did brought glory unto the Father's name.
We too can do the same. Let our lives bring glory unto God's name. There should be perfection in the manner we represent Christ on earth.
Someone may ask, what about Grace? Yes, Grace is sufficient for you to live a perfect life and not to continue in sin. It is also written that we can't continue in sin that Grace may abide.
...How can we achieve Perfection in Christianity?
Truly speaking, it may be very difficult living a perfect life as humans but through these ways mentioned below, it becomes very easy and possible;
It is only through the empowerment of the holy spirit that we can live our lives exactly how Jesus wants it.....when he left this world, he sent the holy spirit to comfort and guide us... Jn 14:26.
Obedience and subjection to the voice and will of the holy spirit in our daily lives... Romans 12:1-2. Let our lives be a living sacrifice unto God. We should renew our minds by setting them on things that glorify Jesus.
Aspiring for spiritual maturity. Practicing and applying the godly values we hear in our daily lives. Let us be doers of the word and not hearers alone.
...Why should we yearn for perfection?
It helps one have a strong connection with the trinity.
One can boldly access the throne room at any point in time.
Prayers are answered at ease without barriers.
One's spiritual level increases rapidly.
Once again, perfection is attainable. It might be difficult but never impossible. It's all about our decision and devotion to God.
Have a great week ahead!
