Scripture verse
Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land_(Exodus 23:30)
Before contestants in a pageant are presented to the public, they are taken through a period of grooming and preparation to make them fit to be showcased publicly. To be great there are certain things we must do to prepare ourselves.
David was a Shepherd boy. Though anointed by Prophet Samuel to be king, God did not immediately make him king until he had completed his period of preparation and grooming. While serving Saul in the palace, he learnt first hand lessons on rulership. His relationship with Jonathan also helped him to behave like a royal.
God had promised the Israelites that they would inherit a great land flowing with milk and honey. He promised to drive out all the inhabitants of the land before Israel but then he added; “I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. __Little by little I will drive them out from before you**, until you have increased, and you inherit the land. ” (Exodus 23:29-30 NKJV). The greatness we desire requires that we are prepared for it.
It is not a question of whether God will bless us or not. He has promised and He will fulfill. The question is about our readiness to handle the blessing.*
God will always take us through some training before He makes us great. _This is because success kills faster than failure. When we succeed without being adequately prepared for it,it can destroy us. He who wishes to be great must be prepared to be great. We prepare ourselves by being obedient and persevering when God takes us through the processes required.
We prepare ourselves by improving upon our skills,by acquiring knowledge,by serving diligently and by waiting patiently on the Lord.We need the right preparation, the right foundation to hold on to and keep the blessing.
Prayer
Dear Lord please help me to faithfully go through every process required to prepare me for your blessing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
