Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. 6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
Acts 8:5-6
Philip was initially appointed to serve tables by men Acts 6:1-6but later in his life, he was appointed by God to be a powerful evangelist. He preached to so many people and through the Ethiopian eunuch brought the gospel to Africa Acts 8:27-38 God lifted him so high that at a point, he was teleported physically from one place to another Acts 8:38.
The lesson that can be learnt from this is we should never despise humble beginnings in the vineyard of God. Like Philip and Stephen, you maybe a highly anointed vessel and yet asked to fill a relatively lowly position. Do not be discouraged or in contempt if such happens to you. Rather, be content and faithful knowing that God rewards the faithful in little with much.
Someone like Pastor Dag Heward- Mills was a pianist initially but over time, God exalted him to the position of an international evangelist. Just be faithful in that your calling as a chorister, usher, prayer secretary or chair cleaner and if God wills, He will give you a bigger position in due time.
LIFE APPLICATION
Do whatever you have been tasked with to do in the church diligently and in due time, you will be promoted.
PRAYER
Lord I receive the grace to be diligent in every task you have entrusted me with.
