If you have been following me recently, you know that I have been writing a series of Bible Devotionals that have been centered on the Gospel of John.
We have finished with the first chapter of John, and we will continue with the second chapter very soon.
At this time, I will also be creating a new series of posts that are designed to bring you to a deeper knowledge of God's Self-revelation through learning the names and titles that he shares within the pages of the Bible.
Within the worldview of the Bible, names carry much, much more weight and importance than they do in our modern world.
We may choose a name for our child because it reminds of something, because it was a relative's name, or perhaps because we just like the way the name sounds. However, in the biblical context, names were given or assumed because they directly reflected something about the essence of that person. This is very much the case with the names and titles of God as well. Therefore, we can learn much more about what God has to say about himself in his Word through knowing his titles and names.
My goal is to help you draw nearer to the God of the Bible through learning the original meaning of those names and applying them in your understanding of God and in your prayer life. I will do my best to put this out on a daily basis and I hope that it is as edifying and enlightening to you as learning it has been to me!
