BEING ALIVE AS GOD IS ALIVE
In Genesis we can see that God made us to be alive as He is alive.
But all evil comes from doubting the goodness of God and His love for us. We mentally know that God is good, but we struggle in life because sometimes we think that we are better than God, or that we have a better way. In our hearts there is still this voice saying that maybe God is good, but He may not do the best for me because I don’t deserve it. And this kind of thinking makes us stop trusting in Him, just as Adam and Eve did in Eden.
Well, the good news are that God is better than us, and that we can trust our whole lives to Him, no just some times or in some ways. And He created us to have his own kind of live: spiritual live. We were made to make visible to the invisible God through our lives. And I’m not talking just about following some rules to look like a good person, I’m talking about having the human experience that God created us to have: having inside us the very same Spirit of God to bring glory to His name: JESUS.
TO MATURE SPIRITUALLY REQUIRES MATURED EMOTIONALLY
We need to stop reacting and doing everything in automatic to see what is leading us to act as we do.
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
All emotion born of fear leads to error and gives bad fruits. So we need to stop and think: What am I afraid of? Why I react this way? What is what I really believe?
You can’t get to emotional maturity without facing opposition. That is why a spoiled child never matures, and God wants for us to be mature in our interior. God brought order to the exterior in Genesis, and He wants to bring this order to our interior.
All bad emotion is born of doubting the goodness of God. So when you stop trusting in “your own goodness” You will see that God is truly good, and this starts a change in your heart; in your life.
Emotional maturity is born of a human being who bases his whole life on the fact that God is good.
AN EMOTIONALLY MATURE PERSON
These are the characteristics of maturity in Christ and all of them are linked to your emotions:
The Fruit of the Spirit
› Love: You become able to express affection for other people, not just for your family or friends. If you have trusted in Jesus You will start loving.
› Joy: Emotion and enthusiasm about life.
› Peace: Serenity in the interior that allows you to go through any circumstance of life.
› Patience: Determination of not to abandon.
› Kindness and generosity: Compassion, conviction that all things as evil as they seem were holy in their origin, so you can treat people not as they are now, but as God wanted them to be and can become.
› Faithfulness: loyal relationships, to keep your commitments even if they no longer suit you.
› Gentleness: You don’t impose yourself, you don’t impose your opinion not even in your family, in your work or with your friends, because you belong to Christ, He is God and He doesn’t impose Himself upon us.
› Self-control: Ability to direct your strength with wisdom.
Amen....God is the giver of life. In Him we live, and move, and have our being.
