WHAT IS DETERMINATION?

  1. Determination is resoluteness, will power or strength of will in the pursuit of worthy objectives
  2. Determination is a sense of purpose, firmness of purpose, fixity of purpose or purposefulness
  3. Determination is a state of intentness, decidedness and steadfastness
  4. Determination is perseverance, persistence, tenacity or tenaciousness and indefatigability
  5. Determination is staying power, strong-mindedness, solid backbone, bulldog spirit or pertinacious-ness.
  6. Determination reflects in positive stubbornness, doggedness, obstinacy, obdurateness, inflexibility
  7. Determination is bravery, boldness, courageousness, stout-heartedness and a fighting spirit

SCRIPTURAL EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE WITH DETERMINATION:

  1. Joshua and Caleb (Num. 13:31-33, 14:6-10,26-30)

WHAT IS THE POWER OF DETERMINATION:

  1. Determination releases the strength to surmount opposition
  2. Determination sustains positive actions and positive actions when repeated establishes positive outcome
  3. Determination affects discretion
  4. Determination attracts Divine assistance (2Kings 7:3-7)
    -The move of man in the right direction attracts the move of God
  5. Determination guarantees destination (Gen. 11:31-32; 12:1-5)
    -When you stop moving, you start dying
    -There is a connection between the ‘liver’ and the silver; if you need the silver, you need to connect the ‘liver’
    -There is a connection between the ‘bold’ and the gold; if you need the gold, you need to connect the ‘bold’

WHAT IS DISCIPLINE?

  1. Discipline is doing what is required to achieve what is desired – Bishop David Oyedepo
  2. Discipline is focusing on the profitable instead of the legitimate but unprofitable
  3. Discipline is bearing pain in the present in order to create gain in the future
  4. Discipline is delaying gratification today in order to enjoy satisfaction tomorrow
  5. Discipline is the capacity to say no to the unprofitable without regrets and with dignity
  6. Discipline is being hard on self so that life can be easy on you
  7. Discipline is having self under firm control, order and rule
  8. Discipline is the capacity to do the right thing without external supervision

WHAT IS THE POWER OF DISCIPLINE:

  1. Discipline refines potential and potential is pathway to destiny
  2. Discipline preserves character and character undergirds destiny (Dan. 1:8)
  3. Discipline facilitates excellence and excellence is cure to prejudice
  4. Discipline is raw material for destiny (Exo. 33:11)

  1. Focus on life’s vision and purpose (Hab. 2:1-3; Phil. 3:13-14)
  2. Draw strength from scriptural promises and provisions (Jer. 29:11; Prov. 4:18; Heb. 13:5-6; Mark 16:20)
  3. Associate with determined and disciplined people (Num. 14:6-7; Prov. 13:20)
