I think fear and discouragement is natural and something we all face. God knew it from the beginning and so says hundreds of times in the bible “Fear not.”
Fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, I will help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
– Isaiah 41:10
What should you do when you are overcome with fears?
What if you think the efforts of your life have amounted to nothing but failure? What a terrible thing to consider that all your effort was in vain. All your suffering and toil, pointless. But, God is in the equation. He knows we wrestle with fears and yet delays in answering our prayers.Why? Because, best as I can see:
- He is developing character and perseverance in us.
- He is letting us come to the end of ourselves, so He alone gets the glory.
- He is deepening our trust in the fact he is our strength, hope, and future.
God can be trusted.
It is hard when we are waiting on God’s timing. Yet, he said he will strengthen us and help us while we wait. There are times when I feel dismayed at life’s circumstances. Thank God that He is with us and and will uphold us!
How I Came Up With the Design
This particular design was inspired by a somewhat Aztec theme with the triangular pattern and detail. The wording matches the coloring. And each phrase is broken apart according to the meaning of the passage.

Faith (in God) combats fear - that makes sense. Fear is part of the human condition; it has some good applications too, don't you agree? Fear to jump off a cliff, for example. Faith in God always yields a good result even though it isn't always easy at the time. Good info, nice design!
I do agree! I think God gives us the whole gambit of emotions, and each has it's proper place and time, even those less lovely, like jealousy and anger. Thanks for the encouragement!
Fear is having "faith in the wrong thing". Satan uses fear to divert our faith in the power of God which can overwhelmingly work in us to overcome problems and worries we face or are about to face. Instead Satan brings in fear of the outcome these things would cause in our lives. Simple solution? Have faith in God to overcome fear!

Excellent post! God promises to work all things together for the good, even our failures. Faith is not always the feeling that something is going to work out, but it is a supernatural elevation of belief and trust that comes through the Word of God. We can only receive that by being exposed to it, and coming to Him in humility and expectation of receiving. Fear is all around us, and it will always be present. The doorway of faith is a narrow opening of light in the middle of fear, and we can walk right into and through it, even while feeling the fear. All glory to God!
