Bread & Butter: Trusting in God's Supply

Growing up, I considered myself a mother's boy because I followed my mother wherever she went. I loved my father too. When we had our father and son moments, I let him know how much it meant to me. My father was a landscaper who worked from dusk till dawn. When he would come inside of our home, after a long day's work, he would tell my mother how his work was bread and butter for the family. I didn't quite understand what my father meant when he would say that.

One day, on a father and son outing, I asked my father what he meant by bread and butter. He explained how work produced supply for the family to survive. Today, our Heavenly Father reminds us of the work He has already done. John 3:16 states that God loved the world He created so much that He sacrificed His only son Jesus for the sins of the world.

Jesus is our redemption from sin. He is our bread and our provider. He supplies us with all we could ever need. Matthew 7:7 tells us to ask and it shall be given. He knows what you need before you even ask Him.

Jesus loves us and is concerned about your needs all the time. He also desires intimacy and time with us because He made us. He wants to spend time with you today and just like the Israelites relied on manna to survive, we must rely on Him daily to meet all of our physical, emotional, financial, mental, social, and spiritual needs.

Proverbs 3:5,6 reminds us to trust in the Lord always and lean not to our own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all we do and He will direct our paths. Philippians 4:19 assures us that God shall supply all of our needs according to His riches and glory.

Today, I pray you will lean on and trust in God's supply. He is your bread and butter. He is your daily source. He is your daily living.
