RE: The Decline and Fall of American Fundamentalism

in #christianity7 years ago

Reading this blog made me think that you were sitting in the corner listening in on our last Deacons meeting lol. Our Pastor had just resigned after ten years of dedicated service and strong leadership and we were discussing how to go about searching for a new Pastor to lead our small Independent Baptist Church. Our problem being that we no longer fit in with the new fundamentalists like you are describing in this blog, and we are too fundamental minded for most of those who have been a part of some association. God was ahead of us as usual though and it looks like He has called and empowered a member of the Church to take over as Under-Shepherd. Thank you for the great analysis of some of the problems that we are facing as we staunchly stand together in defense of the faith and for biblical truth. Our Church motto is "Speaking the Truth in Love," sadly many fundamental churches seem to no longer have love, compassion, patience and many of the other godly attributes that are the gifts of the Spirit and which show us to be true followers of Christ. Instead they display pride, respect for persons, jealousy, slander and other signs of an evil or foul spirit. It is my belief that the end of these things will come soon, and all things will be made right at that time. I have prayed and thanked God for you and the wisdom that He has endowed you with. I also prayed that your ministry here will bear much fruit. Yours, In Christ Jesus.
