A columnist once said:
To write about morality and moral issues in these immoral times is to be either absolutely foolheaded or to be absolutely brave.
Author's insight
Truly, it takes courage to buck a tide that mocks goodness and extols virtue as the antithesis of pragmatism. I am not that brave, I just do have the courage to speak my mind.
Teaching somehow excites me, but to put my voiceless thoughts into writings makes me happier. Writing gems of thoughts that are ageless and eternal. And this all can be found in the holy bible.
As to people who will disagree with my insights - you are very welcome to speak your mind as well. And to argue with me with your unprecedented ideas is a clear manifestation of a thinking mind. Thus it is for me very healthy.
Nurture your mind with great thoughts
Before I became a teacher, I worked as a production worker in a company. Though in my heart I didn't wish to stay there long, I have to sacrifice my own desire to help my younger sister be sent to college. I worked for her and I dreamed with her.
All those years to finish college remains a dream. This I can say the path to a dream is paved with sacrifices and should be in lined with determinations.
It should be marked with faith for it has many stumbling blocks along the way. But even if I traveled my dreams with persistence and hard work, there came a time when I almost lost hope. And the only way that brought me back to dream again is the Holy Bible- until now I cling to its promise.
It says in Jeremiah 29:11,
I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring you hope and future.
This powerful verse strengthens me every time I feel exhausted in life. I also wanted to pass this powerful verse to the young ones. It takes courage to face challenges and chances to fail and try again. But when you are properly guided with his word, and cling to his promises there is no greater joy than making your dream come true.
The secret of survival
In Matthew 4:7, it says
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
I grew up in a small house with no abundance. My parents worked hard - very hard to raise us six children in an honest way. My father was a fisherman and there were times when there was no food on the table - as in literally no food because there was nothing to buy especially during bad weather.
Most often the few money my parents had were spent for our studies.
Fare in going to school were prioritized so my elder sisters may not missed their classes - we are six siblings in the family. So my mother was sometimes left with only water for a meal.
No one knows my mother had a daily morning devotion with the bible and firmly believed that "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." She literally had experienced with no food only faith.
The experienced seems normal that our neighbors couldn't believe and wondered why the six of us became professionals.
It was her faith from God's word that made my mother survive. She had that great faith that only us children can tell.
Final thoughts
The Holy Bible teaches us the best way of living, the noblest way of suffering, and the most comfortable way of dying.
Those struggles that my family encountered were so hard that I really told my self, "one day when I have my own family, It should be a different story!"
I grew up with lots of frustration as a child. I dream to live in a big house, own a luxurious car and with plenty of money. Able to travel to different beautiful places the world has offered. And most of all be financially free.
I know I am not alone to have dream this big! But with all these longings, let us strive to take the right path. Let's not forget that all these things are just physical and the real life is eternal.
Physical death is certain though the time of its coming is uncertain. Let us also be prepared when it comes.
So while we struggle for long and abundant life, let God be our constant guide.
Sharing you with this gems of thoughts that are ageless and eternal.
Your story was really touching and serves a source of encouragement to all those wanting to give up out there
