The Basics of Christianity

I am a Christian, I am born-again and I am a child of God.

So many of us proclaim this all the time. Sadly, we do so without even understanding what it means to be a Christian. In order to fully understand what Christianity means, you have to know the foundation on which it is based. This was clearly stated in the scripture below...

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. Heb 6:1-2

Based on this scripture, there are five basics of Christianity..

Repentance from dead works
'Re-pent' stands for going back to the 'pent-house' and taking note of all the dead works and doing away with them. Dead works here, refer to anything activity that is devoid of God's principles.
Faith towards God
Having faith means trusting God and is a requirement to pleasing Him. It is comes by hearing the Word of God and is an attribute that grows.
Baptism
This is another vital element that involves three steps; baptism into the body of Christ during repentance, baptism by total immersion in water and baptism of the HolySpirit with evidence of speaking in tongues.
Laying of hands
This is an action that is done with spiritual implications. It could be done to receive healing, impart the baptism of the HolySpirit, for spiritual gifts or to send people out. The point is, it is a spiritual process and could be deadly if a wrong person does it to you.
Resurrection of the dead
This involves the last day resurrection where the Saints would meet with Christ. It is one day we all look forward to.
Eternal judgment
After the resurrection comes judgement. It is that where the sheep will be separated from the goats and decisions taken then would be forever.
