Exodus 15:13 NIV
In your unfailing love, you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength, you will guide them to your holy dwelling.
As the Israelites sang the song that Moses wrote it is unlikely they understood exactly what they were singing about.
They probably could understand that God loved them. When they sang about redemption they probably thought about the redemption from Egyptian slavery and not any kind of spiritual redemption.
Firstly today we need to make sure that we are thinking about what we sing about in church.
That we don't get lost in melody and beats so that the profound messages contained in the song are ignored.
I think Israelites did not understand about being led to God's " holy dwelling ".
I think they did realize God's desire for an intimate relationship with his people.
They did not realize the holiness of God and how our unholiness makes it impossible for us to be intimate.
They did not realize the great price that God was willing to pay to in order for us to be without sin and to be intimate with God.
We need to be people who understand God's desire to relate to us and to be close to us.
As we understand not to miss opportunities to spend time with God on a daily basis and throughout the day.
As we understand this we seek to be holy, understand how holiness or unholiness can impact our closeness to God and understand that God can change us to be holy to deal with the patterns of sin in our lives.
If you do sing or praise today be sure you understand and believe what you are singing..don't just sing a nice tune.
Today focus your attention on being someone who is holy and someone who can be intimate to God.
God's love is unfailing! Thank you for the word
