Not All Act of Speaking in Tongues Is Given By The Holy Spirit.

오늘은 '모든 방언이 성령이 주시는 방언이 아니다'란 주제로 한번 생각해보겠습니다.
I would like to talk about speaking in tongues today, and why they are not always given by the Holy Spirit.

최근 외국에서 기도코치을 하는 자매는 제가 훈련기간중에는 방언을 하지 말라는 것에 의구심을 가지기 시작했습니다.
Recently, a lady I'm coaching overseas started to doubt my teachings of not to speak in tongues during the prayer training.

그래서, 훈련을 계속하면서 자신의 아들도 방언을 하는데 이도 성령이 주시는 것이 아니냐고 물어보았습니다.
She told me her son prays in tongues as well and asked me if that is not given by the Holy Spirit.

그래서 제가 그럴 확룰이 많다고 하니까 세상의 수많은 교인들과 목회자들이 방언을 하고 있는데 그들도 성령이 주시는 방언이 아니냐면서 따져 물었어요.
I told her there is a big chance it might not be. Then she asked me in a defensive manner if all those Christians', regular church-goers and pastors alike, prayers in tongues are just fake.

그래서 오늘은 방언에 대해서 생각해보는 시간을 가지고 싶습니다.
So let's discuss about speaking in tongues.

방언의 은사가 성령이 임재하시는 증거라는 대목은 사도행전에서 사도들과 120명의 제자들이 마가, 요한의 다락방에서 성령의 임재를 구하는 기도 끝에 방언이 터졌기 때문이죠.
This ability to speak in tongues is a proof of the Holy Spirit coming to us, according to the Book of Acts, where the apostles and 120 followers started speaking in tongues when they asked the Holy Ghost to come to them.

방언이라는 말은 외국어란 뜻입니다.
"Tongues" literally means "languages" - foreign languages, to be specific.

그래서 당시에 디아스포라로 흩어진 유대인들이 예루살렘에 순례하러 와서 자신들이 살던 지방의 언어를 듣게 되어 몹시 놀랐다는 내용입니다.
And the Jews, separted by diaspora, were surprised to hear their languages when they gathered in Jerusalem.

물론, 작금의 우리네 교인들이 하는 방언은 외국어 방언이 아니라, '천사방언'이라고 하는 특정한 음절을 무한 반복하는 것입니다.
Of course, the tongues we speak today most of the time is something called "angel tongues," a series of different intonations, instead of actual foreign languages of this world.

그런 방언이 성령이 주시는 방언인지 저는 잘 모릅니다.
I am not sure if those tongues are really given by the Holy Ghost.

그러나 제가 경험한 바로는, 성령이 주시는 방언은, 지금도 외국어 방언이 많고 그 방언이 수시로 새롭게 바뀌는 것이 특색입니다.
From my experience, tongues given by the Holy Spirit are usually foreign languages of the world today, and you are given new languages often.

즉 새 방언을 주신다는 것이죠.
God gives you new tongues to speak.

그러나 우리네 교인들은 똑같은 음절을 평생 반복하는 이들이 적지 않습니다.
But that's not the case for most Christians today; they just repeat specific intonation over and over without any changes.

그럼에도 자신이 하는 방언이 성령이 주신 거라는 것을 믿어 의심치 않죠.
But they still believe that their tongues are given by the Holy Ghost.

그러나 저는 외국어 방언과 그 천사 방언이라고 주장하는 방언의 진위에 대해서 사실 언급하고 싶지는 않아요.
And I never really wanted to mention about what is fake and real about the tongues that are given to people.

말해봤자 받아들일 사람이 별로 없기 때문입니다.
I mean, there is not that many people who are willing to accept that.

그렇다면 모든 방언이 성령이 주시는 방언입니까?
Are all tongues given by the Holy Spirit?

그렇다면 다른 은사의 예를 한번 들어봅시다.
Let's talk about other gifts as examples.

예언은 전부 하나님이 주시는 것입니까?
Are all prophcies given by God?

성경에는 거짓 선지자들의 이야기가 적지않게 나오죠.
There are a lot of stories about false prophets in the Bible.

거짓 선지자들의 예언은 하나님으로부터 온 예언이 아니라는 것을 죄다 인정해야할 것입니다.
And we all know the prophecies from those false prophets are not from God.

또다른 예로써 치유의 은사를 생각해봅시다. 하나님만 치유를 하십니까? 그건 아니죠.
Let's talk about the the gift of healing as another example. Is God the only one able to do such thing? No.

절에 가는 사람도 그곳에서 치유를 받았다고 그러고.
There are people who were healed by going to Buddhist temples.

무당도 굿을 해서 치유를 하고 있습니다.
Shamans also have ceremonies to heal the sick.

또는 명백한 이단 교회에서도 치유가 일어난다고 야단법썩을 떨지 않습니까?
And there are also cults and sects where these kinds of miraculous healing have occurred.

기적도 마찬가지죠. 하나님만 이적과 기적을 일으키십니까?
Miracles, too. Is God the only one to bring miracles?

모세가 애굽왕 바로 앞에서 지팡이로 뱀을 만들자, 바로의 주술사들도 똑같이 따라하고 있습니다.
When Moses turned his staff into a snake, the pharaoh's magicians did the same.

그들은 나일강을 피로 물들인 것까지 따라하고 있죠.
They were also able to turn River Nile into blood.

성경은 악한 영들도 이적과 기적을 일으켜서 사람들을 미혹한다고 하지 않습니까?
Bible does say that demons can do miraculous things to confuse people.

그렇다면 귀신들이라고 방언을 주지 못할까요?
Then, can demons give tongues to people as well?

제가 귀신들을 쫓아내면서 귀신들이 내는 그런 방언을 적지않게 들어보았습니다.
I have listened to many demon's and the tongues they gave to people as I chased them out.

예전에 인천에서 온 어떤 자매는 귀신이 나가면서 온갖 얘기를 하며 나갔는데 그 얘기중에 수많은, 다양한 방언을 쏟아부었어요.
A sister from Incheon spoke a lot when I drove the demons out of her, and she spoke in tongues during the process.

그런데 그 자매는 그 방언을 자신이 들어보니까 자신이 다니던 교회의 담임목사나 사모, 혹은 자녀들, 혹은 교인들의 방언과 똑같다고 하면서 혀를 내둘렀어요.
She told me that the tongues she spoke were from the pastors, their children, and other fellow Christians she met in her church, and she was very surprised to realize that.

제가 처음에는 귀신들이 내는 방언과 보통의 교인들이 내는 방언이, 차잇점이 있는지 알아보려고 귀를 기울였던 적이 있었습니다.
In the beginning of my ministry, I have tried to see the difference between the real tongues given by God and the ones given by demons.

물론 귀신들이 내는 방언은 날카롭고 높은 음절이 적지 않았지만 귀신들이 속이려들면 어떤 방언이라도 복사해낼 수 있다는 것을 알아내고, 방언의 소리로는 분별할 수 없다는 결론을 내리고 그만 두었습니다.
Tongues given by demons have very sharp and high pitches, but demons can fool people if they decide to, so I just gave up trying to see the difference.

저도 평신도 20여년동안 방언은 물론 방언찬송도 유창하게 했었어요.
I myself was able to speak in tongues and praise in tongues as well, for 20 years of my life before I became a pastor.

그러나 제가 실패뿐인 인생이였다는 것은 여러 칼럼을 통해 말씀드렸죠.
But my life was failure after failure, and I have said this in my columns.

만약 방언이 성령이 공급해주시는 선물이였다면 방언을 하는 사람은 성령이 안에 계시다는 증거입니다.
If the tongues you speak is given by the Holy Spirit, that means he dwells within you.

성령이 누구십니까?
Who is the Holy Spirit?

전지전능하신 하나님이세요.
He is God Almighty.

전지전능한 하나님이 자신안에 살아계시다면 이렇게 건조하고 냉랭한 영혼과 무능하고 무기력한 삶을 살 수 있겠습니까?
Why would you live a life of misery and lethargy if God Almighty dwells within you?

참 희한한 일이죠.
Weird, isn't it?

저에게 기도코칭을 받으러 온 사람중에서 하루에 13시간 이상 방언으로 기도한다는 분도 있었어요.
I had a student asking for the prayer training that prayed over 13 hours a day in tongues.

말하자면 밥만 먹고 기도만 하는 사람이였던 것이죠.
She was so-called a prayer that prays all the time, other than the time she eats.

그러나 이분이 저를 찾아온 것은 방언은 열심히 했지만 채워지지 않은 그 무엇이 있어서가 아니겠습니까?
But why would she come to me for help if she didn't have any problem in her life?

그래서 저는 방언을 하지말고 오직 하나님을 부르는 그 기도만 요청을 하였어요.
So I told her not to pray in tongues; instead, I told her to call God's name.

그랬더니 헛구역질과 구토, 메스꺼워가지고 밥을 못먹겠다고 하면서 결국은 기도코칭을 그만두었습니다.
After a bit, she quit, saying she couldn't eat due to dry heaves and nausea.

하나님을 부르는 기도를 하여 헛구역질과 구토가 나는 것은 약한 귀신들이 나가는 현상입니다.
As I mentioned before, dry heaves and nausea are symptoms of weajer demons exiting your body.

그렇다면, 그분이 했던 방언은 귀신들이 넣어주는 방언이 아니겠습니까?
Then, shouldn't that mean the prayers in tongues she prayed are from demons?

사실 제게 기도코칭을 요청한 사람들은 그동안 방언기도를 유창하게 했던 사람들이 대부분이였어요.
Number of people that asked for the prayer training had the habit of praying in tongues, and they've been doing it for a while.

그런데 고단하고 팍팍한 그런 영혼의 문제, 인생의 문제가 해결되지 않아서 찾아온 사람들이였죠.
But they came to me because their life wasn't peachy, and they coudln't resolve the problems they had.

아니, 성령이 안에 계시다면 이렇게 무기력하고 답답하게 살 수 있겠습니까?
How can you live a life of misery and lethargy if the Holy Spirit lives in you?

그러나 아무리 제가 거품을 물고 말한다 하더라도 대부분의 사람들은 자신의 주장을 굽힐 마음이 없다는 것도 잘 알고 있어요.
I know. I know that a lot of people won't listen even if I try my best to talk about all this fake-tongues and the meaningless prayers they speak.

왜냐하면 방언기도를 하면서 자신안에 성령이 계시다는 것을 철썩같이 믿고 살아왔는데, 그게 성령이 아니였다면, 지금까지 믿어온 신앙이 물거품이고 헛수고라는 것을 인정하는 것이기 때문입니다.
Because if the accept my claim, that means they are accepting that they have been wasting away all this time, fooled by demons. It upturns everything they believed in.

그래서 엄청난 충격과 혼란을 견디지 못할 것이기 때문에 도저히 저의 의견을 받아들일 생각이 없습니다.
They don't want to deal with the chaos it can bring, so they are not willing to accept what I tell them.

그래서 방언기도를 하면서 자신안에 성령이 계시다고 믿으며 자기만족과 자기위안으로 삼고 있습니다.
They still pray in tongues thinking the Holy Spirit is firmly dwelling within them, in an act of self-contempt.

그러나 평생 방언기도를 유창하게 했지만 성령이 계시는 증거나 변화, 능력과 열매가 없는 사람들이 대다수죠
But most of them have not faced chanages that the Holy Spirit brings or the power he brings upon the believers.

성경을 보세요.
Read the Bible.

성령이 내주하는 성경의 위인들은 귀신을 쫓아내고 고질병을 고치며 이적과 기적을 보여주면서 하나님의 나라를 확장하고 영혼을 구원하였습니다.
People with the Holy Spirits chased demons out, healed the sick, showed all types of miracles, saving souls and expanding God's nation.

그러나 여러분은 방언은 하지만 시도하는 것마다 인생이 실패뿐이고 되는 것이 없다면 이것처럼 희한한 일이 아니겠습니까? (어디있겠습니까?)
Isn't it weird that you don't have anything positive coming from praying in tongues, if failure is only thing you have experienced?

제가 귀신과 싸우는 사역을 하면서 알게된 사실은, 대부분의 사람들이 하는 방언은 귀신들이 속여서 넣어주었거나 자의적으로 지어낸 방언이라는 것입니다.
What I found out from this ministry is that people speaking in tongues are either fooled by the demons, or arbitrarily made them up.

방언을 연습시키는 교회도 있으니 뭐, 딱히 할말도 없죠.
I have nothing to say, really, because there are churches that train you to speak in tongues.

여러분의 방언이 진짜인지 아닌지 분별하는 그런 방법이 전혀 없는 것은 아니예요.
There is a way to find out whether your tongues are real or not.

하나님을 전심으로 부르고 혹독하게 성령이 내주하는 기도를 해보세요.
Try calling out to God and desperately ask for the Holy Spirit to come inside you.

아마 적지 않은 시간이 지나면 평생해온 방언을 잊어먹게 될 것입니다.
You will probably forget those tongues you've spoken throughtout your life, in a short amount of time.

그 방언은 성령이 주시는 게 아니였기 때문이죠.
Becuase it was not given by the Holy Spirit.
